KHA Quality Webinar: HANDS: Supporting Kentucky Families and Providers

This presentation will discuss how the statewide HANDS (Health Access Nurturing Development Services) program supports families with achieving healthy pregnancy outcomes, safe/healthy homes, optimal child development and family self-sufficiency. Will identify how HANDS community level programs work with health care providers for a strong continuum of care while reducing infant, child, and family risks/vulnerabilities.

Presenter:
Shawna Donaldson joined the KY Department of Public, Division of Maternal and Child Health, Early Childhood Promotions – HANDS team in June 2024 as the Human Services Program Supervisor. In her state role, Shawna provides support to the state focused on federally funded projects, CQI, budget, and HANDS operations. Shawna’s professional experiences include over 20 years in early childhood home visit, 14 of those years managing a local HANDS program. She will be joined by Dr. Steven J. Stack on this presentation.

  1. Participants will be able to define how adverse child experiences (ACEs) and social determinants of health impact families
  2. Participants will be able to identify the different components of the statewide HANDS
  3. Participants will be able to associate how HANDS home visiting services positively impact families
