The Kentucky Hospital Association (KHA) presented several awards on May 18 at the 93rd Annual KHA Convention. This year’s event was held at the newly renovated Galt House Hotel in downtown Louisville. KHA’s highest honor, the Distinguished Service Award, was presented to Brian Brezosky. KHA’s Distinguished Service Award is presented to an individual who has given untiring and exceptional service to their hospital, community, the state and KHA. Brezosky was honored for his exemplary service during his career.

Brian Brezosky joined the Kentucky Hospital Association (KHA) as general counsel and in-house lobbyist 28 years ago, but his career began on a much different path. At the age of 21, he dropped out of college and became a police officer in the Louisville Metropolitan Police Department (LMPD).

Brezosky returned to school to finish his undergraduate degree and obtain his law degree at night, all while working on the force as a detective in the while collar crime unit.

After graduating law school, he left the LMPD and went into private practice with Middleton & Reutlinger. While there, he concentrated his practice on corporate mergers and acquisitions. He changed his focus to health care law as the general counsel of the Kentucky Medical Association, spending three years there as their chief in-house counsel and lobbyist before moving to KHA.

At KHA, he has led KHA Solutions Group, providing valuable services to member hospitals, developed the Affinity Partner Program and the Kentucky Hospital Insurance Company (KHIC) along with his leadership as general counsel.
