Kentucky Hospitals Addressing Drug and Medical Supply Shortages

Share

National news outlets are reporting concern surrounding the latest shortages of prescription drugs and medical supplies. The Kentucky Hospital Association (KHA) and its member hospitals are addressing the issue and working to help ensure every patient continues to receive quality, uninterrupted care.

As a part of everyday operations, hospitals and pharmacists remain constantly vigilant of supply chain issues and can plan for most disruptions. This has been especially true since the onset of the pandemic. With the assistance of KHA, Kentucky’s hospitals worked together to address every disruption during the past few years and will continue to do so to tackle this latest concern.

KHA is working with government officials and the American Hospital Association to keep hospitals up to date on the latest information on pharmaceutical supply chain issues. As there are nationwide backorders of some medications, KHA is in constant contact with its fellow hospital associations in other states and is therefore able to inform its members of the latest news and educate them on best practices.

KHA and the hospitals of Kentucky are making every effort to ensure all Kentuckians have access to the highest quality care available.
